Space junk demo mission launches

A UK-led experiment to tackle space junk has been sent into orbit. It takes the form of a small satellite that will practise techniques for tracking debris and capturing it. The RemoveDebris system is heading to the International Space Station where astronauts are expected to set the experiment running in late May. Space junk is an ever-growing problem with more than 7,500 tonnes of redundant hardware now thought to be circling the Earth.

Grafton Espace were delighted to attend the 2017 UK Space Conference - an event designed to bring together people and groups from within and outside the space community. The conference is a 2 and a half day forum to discuss the changing political, economic and technological landscape impacting the UK space industry.
Visions and ideas for using space, its technology and satellite enabled-services to shape our future were exchanged, and discussions were held on how new knowledge and space-based capabilities can drive social and economic progress into the 2030s and beyond.
Attended by over 1,200 delegates, the UK Space Conference proved to be an unmissable forum for the UK and international space community, bringing together government, industry, academia, customers, suppliers, education providers, researchers and the financial community.
